A Novel Hybrid Grey Wolf Optimizer for Optimal Allocation of DG and DSTATCOM

The power losses on the distribution side are eventually more when compared to the transmission side. This factor can be successfully countered by effectually placing DG in the required node of the network leading to a considerable amount of reduction in the net system power loss. However, the allocation of the compensation devices is not substantial because of several technical, economic, and environmental concerns. Therefore, it is necessary to transition from traditional to renewable energy sources for energy needs. Due to their widespread availability, environmentally friendly nature, and sustainable characteristics, renewable energy sources have been attracting considerable attention throughout time. Currently, the most practical renewable energy sources are solar energy systems worldwide. In this paper, the top executing difficulty of the PV-DG and DSTATCOM devices is addressed. The suggested system deliberates the changes in PV energy and power required for improving the various system parameters. This study presents a new optimization technique named the Hybrid Grey Wolf Optimization Algorithm (HGWA) for computing the optimal sizes of DG and DSTATCOM. The IEEE 33-bus Radial Distribution Systems (RDS) are employed to test the performance of the suggested technique. The outcomes of the models are then contrasted with the regular HGWA and the rest of the well-acknowledged optimization methods for decreasing power loss in certain situations. The simulation results indicate that there may be considerable improvements in techno-economic benefits by strategically including two PVDGs and DSTATCOMs rather than only one system.
