IoT-Based Air Quality Monitoring and Alert System: Addressing Pollution Challenges in Indian Metropolises
Due to the fact that air pollution in the Indian city has become one of the most serious risks to human health and the environment, urgent steps have to be taken, such as real-time monitoring of the air pollution level. This article would give a system for monitoring and warning about air quality through IoT. The system will track continuous air pollution, with sensors and alarm mechanisms that are cheap and accessible yet utilize cloud computing and mobile devices. An ESP32 microcontroller combines with gas and particle matter sensors, and then the information is transmitted in real time over Wi-Fi or LoRaWAN to a cloud platform. Algorithms for machine learning predict patterns of pollution, and an innovative data fusion method using weighted sensors enhances data accuracy. In addition, this can automatically receive alerts directly through the online dashboard of the system and through push notifications on your mobile device. Successful deployment trials were conducted in New Delhi, Mumbai, and Kolkata which resulted in a 25% increased accuracy, 2-second latency of real-time updates on data, and effective public notification. This cost-effective tool empowers the authorities as well as the citizens to take swift action, thereby improving urban air quality management. Deployment at large scale across many cities with predictive analytics driven by AI shall be the development area in the future.
