Design and Analysis of A Novel Wind Turbine for Harnessing Wind Energy in Urban Spaces

The current work deals with the design and analysis of an Archimedean Spiral Wind Turbine (ASWT), a novel design from the family of the Horizontal Axis Wind Turbine (HAWT), focusing on blades constructed according to the Fibonacci sequence. The study aims to optimize performance the performance of the turbine in the light to moderate wind condition in urban settings. Utilizing SolidWorks for 3-D modeling and ANSYS for aerodynamic characteristic analysis, the research findings indicate that the ASWT exhibits stable performance in light to moderate wind forces, achieving peak efficiency at 65.02%. The turbine operates optimally within a wind speed range of 3 m/s to 10 m/s, demonstrating its capability to efficiently harness wind energy in urban settings while maintaining resilience against wind disturbances. The results underscore the potential of ASWTs as a viable renewable energy solution, contributing to the advancement of wind energy technologies in urban areas.
