Study of Three-Phase Faults and Design of an Overcurrent Relay for Induction Motor Applications
This paper focuses on the study of three-phase faults and the design of an instantaneous overcurrent relay module for induction motor applications. As a continuation of previous work where an induction motor was powered by a Solid Oxide Fuel Cell (SOFC), this investigation examines the impact of various fault conditions on motor performance. The proposed relay module is designed to detect, respond to, and clear faults in real time, ensuring reliable operation of the motor under different mechanical load conditions. The study analyzes the behavior of the motor before, during, and after fault occurrences, providing an effective protection strategy to enhance system stability. The findings contribute to the development of a robust fault protection mechanism for SOFC-powered induction motor drives.
