Optimizing the Utilization of Potential in Wind Energy Systems using SI-FLC based MPPT

This study implements conventional proportional-integral (PI) and single-input fuzzy logic control (SI-FLC) controllers to regulate torque in response to wind fluctuations. A mathematical model has been developed to generate torque based on variations in wind velocity. The torque determines the maximum power generated during the mechanical energy conversion process. The effectiveness of PI and SI-FLC controllers in maximizing power extraction is evaluated using MATLAB/Simulink, with real-time validation conducted on a dSPACE (DS1104) digital signal processor. The results show that SI-FLC achieves system stabilization in 3 seconds, compared to 5 seconds for the PI controller. Furthermore, the power coefficient stabilizes at 0.4532 with SI-FLC, while PI reaches 0.4025, indicating improved energy efficiency. In addition, the real-time validation results closely align with simulation outcomes, confirming the real-time suitability of the SI-FLC for maximum power extraction in wind energy conversion systems.
