Economic feasibility of floating solar PV energy in the Canary Islands
In recent years, offshore solar energy has gained increasing interest due to its advantages over onshore solar plants and its role in the promotion of renewable energies. This study evaluates the economic viability of the Merganser plant in the Canary Islands by analysing CAPEX (Capital Expenditure), OPEX (Operational Expenditure) and LCOE (Levelized Cost of Energy). The results identify the northern coast of Gran Canaria and an intermediate area between Tenerife and Fuerteventura as the most favourable locations for the installation of the solar farm. This research provides valuable information for investors considering marine solar farm projects.
