Design and Development of CBCP Module for Five-Radar Trigger Input Pulses in Enhanced Electronic Support for Modern Defense

Modern defense depends on Electronic Support (ES) systems to effectively manage radar operations. ES systems are passive electronic warfare tools that utilize enemy transmissions for surveillance by monitoring the electromagnetic (EM) spectrum. These systems rely on data from various on-board platforms, including radars, horizontal and vertical gyro systems, GPS, and DATALINK. The integration of these components with the ESM system is critical for fulfilling various operational requirements. One of the modules that requires to integrate is design and development of the Composite Blanking Cover Pulse module. The design process involves developing Digital Glue Logic (DGL) using VHDL, with extensive testing conducted in simulated environments to ensure robustness and reliability. The DGL is designed to generate band-specific Composite Blanking Cover Pulse (CBCP) from input provided by on-board radars. The objective of this work is to design a schematic for generation of Blanking Cover Pulse for the respective five input trigger pulses and the generation of the final CBCP Module using VHDL. This module plays a crucial role in ensuring the safe transmission and reception of radar signals, thereby protecting the receiver system from potential damage. By maintaining a 40% duty cycle and operating on a 50 MHz clock, this design ensures synchronization and reliability in real-world scenarios.
