Integration of PV-BES in Low-Voltage Distribution Systems with Distinct Load Profiles
The increasing penetration of Distributed Energy Resources (DERs), particularly photovoltaic (PV) systems and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESs), presents both opportunities and challenges for low-voltage distribution networks. A high PV penetration can lead to power quality issues such as voltage fluctuations, reverse power flow, and increased energy losses, necessitating effective control strategies for grid stability. This study evaluates the integration of PV-BES systems with low-voltage networks, focusing on energy loss reduction and voltage regulation at consumer endpoints. A 24-hour load flow analysis is conducted in MATLAB under various scenarios, considering factors such as PV adoption rates, installed capacity, and load demand variations. The impact of centralized and distributed BES strategies on voltage control and grid stability is examined. The findings highlight the role of BES in mitigating voltage instabilities and enhancing energy distribution efficiency. The proposed approach addresses key challenges associated with DER integration and contributes to the development of a more resilient and sustainable power system.
