Design of a Frequency Reconfigurable Antenna for 5G and Wireless Applications

This paper presents a design for a frequency reconfigurable antenna that built to meet the needs of both 5G networks and other wireless applications. The antenna is capable of automatically adjusting its frequency across multiple bands, to improve the bandwidth and providing the better gain, giving it the flexibility to support a wide range of communication services, such as sub-6 GHz 5G, Wi-Fi, and IoT networks. The antenna, built on an FR4 substrate with dimensions 30 × 20 × 1.6 mm3, utilizes four strategically placed PIN diodes to enable switching between multiple frequency bands. Simulation outcomes confirm successful operation at distinct resonant frequencies—21 GHz, 24 GHz, 28 GHz, 31 GHz, and 34 GHz—demonstrating its multiband functionality. The antenna achieves a peak gain of 5.17 dB in the ON state, while maintaining a VSWR below 2 across the active bands, In this project to achieve the frequency reconfiguration mechanism PIN diodes are to be inserted in the hexagonal structure shape.. The antenna is designed by using HFSS Tool.
