A Dual Circularly Polarized UWB MIMO Antenna for 5G Indoor and Outdoor Remote Access Applications

A dual circularly polarized UWB MIMO antenna is proposed for 5G remote access applications. Here, the design geometry consists of a two inverted U-shaped ground slots protruded in bottom ground plane. The top plane consists of four ports placed asymmetrically in opposite sides of the FR4 substrate. To improve the isolation levels between two ground planes, an horizontally placed narrow rectangular strip along with vertically inserted strips and semi-arc shapes inside the strip are utilized. The overall size of the antenna in terms of L x W x H is 96 mm2 x 48 mm2 x 1.0 mm2. The designed UWB MIMO structure shows the -10 dB return loss bandwidth from 2.12 GHz – 7.80 GHz. The ARBW ranges from 3.05 - 5.96 GHz. The two triangular shape slots with small circular slot rings on both the sides are inserted on the bottom ground plane & it is very close to the top side patches that gives further improvement in IBW, ARBW & gain of the antenna.
