Cytotransducers for Visualization of Spatiotemporal Intercellular Communication (Small 35/2025)
Cytotransducers In article number 2503749, Niko Kimura, Yoko Yamanishi, and Shinya Sakuma developed tiny and smart devices called cytotransducers to convert veiled intra/intercellular information into visible data in real time. They can be carried by neutrophils and cell-selectively released during cell-cell communication. Each consists of a fluorescent nanodiamond core coated with a lipid layer and glows differently depending on intracellular pH. This approach hints at future applications where live cells might be engineered as intelligent delivery systems in a highly targeted manner.
