Comparative Analysis and Research on Rotational Performance of Swivel Joints
The swivel joint is a widely used construction tool in the process of tension stringing construction, designed to eliminate rotational torque generated during the unwinding of conductors. Its rotational performance is therefore of utmost importance. Instances have been observed during construction where poor rotational performance of swivel joints (excessively high starting torque) caused the conductor strands to unravel and break, which impacted construction quality. In order to prevent the aforementioned issues, this paper combines the realworld operating conditions of swivel joints and proposes a test method for measuring the starting torque of swivel joints. Furthermore, it measures the starting torque of swivel joints at varying tonnages from mainstream manufacturers. The measurement results of starting torque were compared and analyzed from different dimensions to investigate the factors influencing their starting torque. The research findings can serve as a reference for the design and application of swivel joints.
