Thermal Tuning Single Frequency Semiconductor Lasers Based on FP Etalons

This study presents the design and implementation of a Multiple-wavelength for compact, high-performance, and highly reliable external cavity diode laser (ECDL). The Multiple-wavelength lasers feature an innovatively optimized optical configuration and mechanical structure, eliminating moving parts and spring-loaded mechanisms commonly used in traditional designs, thereby significantly enhancing operational robustness. The component adopts a compact butterfly package with dimensions of 30 mm × 15 mm × 10 mm, which not only improves mechanical rigidity but also reduces sensitivity to environmental vibrations compared to conventional grating-based configurations. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed ECDL structure, utilizing an interference filter combined with an etalon, exhibits broad wavelength versatility and can be extended to other wavelength bands, thereby expanding the applicability of semiconductor lasers. Benefiting from its outstanding performance metrics, this laser shows promising potential in atomic, molecular, and optical (AMO) physics experiments, including quantum sensing and cold atom trapping applications.
