A Globally Asymptotically Stable Controller for a Three-Phase Voltage Source Inverter

Voltage source inverters (VSIs) must provide effective harmonic voltage compensation to ensure high-quality output voltage under various load conditions. In practical applications, disturbances arising from filter parameter variations and nonlinear loads can significantly impair system stability and voltage performance. To address these challenges, this paper proposes a voltage–current dual-loop controller based on passivity theory and sliding mode control. The global asymptotic stability of the system is analyzed using Lyapunov Theory, and a detailed parameter design methodology is provided based on linearized small-signal modeling. Simulation and experimental results demonstrate that the proposed controller achieves superior harmonic voltage compensation and enhanced robustness to filter parameter variations, compared to the multi-proportional-resonant (MPR) control and the passivitybased control (PBC) strategy.
