Cognitive Trajectory in Alzheimer Disease and Clinical Mimics
Neuropathology at autopsy remains the standard for diagnosing Alzheimer disease (AD). However, a notable proportion of individuals clinically diagnosed with AD have neuropathologic findings consistent with other diseases (AD-Mimics). Previous research has shown that those with a clinically and pathologically concordant diagnosis (AD-AD) perform worse on neuropsychological tests than AD-Mimics at baseline and follow-up. This study examined whether AD-Mimics exhibit a different trajectory of cognitive decline compared with AD-AD.
