Single‐Phase <i>L</i>10‐Ordered High Entropy Thin Films with High Magnetic Anisotropy (Adv. Sci. 34/2024)
“Spotlight” on Magnetic High Entropy Alloys High entropy alloys offer a promising platform to achieve rare‐earth‐free high magnetic anisotropy phases, as shown in article number 2308574. Using multi‐source magnetron sputtering, Kai Liu and co‐workers have achieved (FeCoNiMnCu)Pt thin films in the L1(0) phase, with 3 orders of magnitude coercivity increase upon rapid thermal annealing. The tetragonal crystal structure is illustrated with alternating atomic layers of Pt and high entropy alloys (silver and colored spheres). Actual plasmas from the sputtering sources provide the “spotlights”. Design by Audrey Liu and Erin Marlowe. [Image: see text]
