A Comparative Study of Matter Collineations of Bianchi Type V Spacetime Using Three Definitions

In this paper, we have studied matter collineations of locally rotationally symmetric (LRS) Bianchi type V spacetime with perfect fluid source using the contravariant, covariant and mixed forms of energy–momentum tensor. Our analysis shows that the mixed form of energy–momentum tensor gives infinite number of matter collineations for the spacetime under consideration. When the energy–momentum tensor is degenerate, its contravariant form gives infinite matter collineations, while the covariant form produces 10 matter collineations in a special case. For non-degenerate case, the number of matter collineations for both contravariant and covariant forms yields the same number of matter collineations, which are either four or five.
