The design and sustained effectiveness of an intervention to improve antimicrobial stewardship associated with equine castration in a group of primary care practices in the North West
switching from clarithromycin to doxycycline for treating Rhodococcus equi related disease.Main limitations: Relatively small sample size from a single growing practice with stud medicine bias. Conclusions: Over the past 12 years, this practice's AMU moved away from HPCIA.From 2020, antimicrobial stewardship measures (ProtectME and PPRS) appear to have positively influenced reductions in HPCIA and CIA use.
