PEMANFAATAN BAMBU PETUNG SEBAGAI MEDIA PENETASAN TELUR PENYU DALAM UPAYA KONSERVASI DI PESISIR PANTAI SELATAN
This study aims to design, implement, and evaluate the use of petung bamboo (Dendrocalamus asper) as a semi-natural nesting medium for sea turtle egg incubation in the conservation area of Pantai Sanggar, Tulungagung. Employing a case study approach through direct observation, in-depth interviews, and field documentation, the research developed and applied bamboo incubators measuring 50–70 cm in length, 15–20 cm in diameter, and equipped with natural ventilation. Temperature and humidity were monitored periodically throughout the 50–60 days incubation period. The results indicate that petung bamboo successfully maintained ideal temperature (28–32°C) and stable humidity levels (70–80%), achieving a hatching success rate of 94.94%. This innovation offers an environmentally friendly, low-cost alternative for conservation, while empowering coastal communities through active participation in the protection of endangered marine spesie. These findings highlight the potential of petung bamboo as a locally adapted, ecosystem-based solution to sea turtle conservation challenges and as a foundation for the development of sustainable educational ecotourism.
