Educación ambiental y responsabilidad social en el sector turismo

This study examines the relationship between environmental education (EE) and social responsibility (SR) in the tourism sector, identifying their influence on sustainability. An analytical and correlational approach is employed witha non-experimental design, evaluating key variables such as environmental awareness, education for environmental action, ethical commitment, and social impact actions through surveys conducted with restaurant customers in Chiclayo. Findings reveal a positive correlation between higher EE levels and SR practices. However, challenges such as insufficient environmental education among certain sector stakeholders and the need for comprehensive strategies to enhance tourism sustainability are highlighted. Environmental education in this context seeks to raise awareness among tourists, tour operators, and local communities about the importance of preserving natural resources, biodiversity, and local culture. This involves promoting responsible practices such as efficient water management, waste reduction, respect for flora and fauna, and the adoption of clean technologies in the tourism industry.
