Fiodor Dostojewski i problem konserwatywnej tożsamości rosyjskiego projektu imperialnego
The focus of the present study is on the relationship between conservatism, Orthodox Christianity, and the Russian imperial project, which was pursued through the military annexation of neighbouring Slavic countries. The text aims to demonstrate that historical and contemporary narratives portraying the Russian Empire as the embodiment of conservative ideas are incorrect. To this end, the concept of the Orthodox Empire, as formulated by Fyodor Dostoyevsky in his journalistic writings, is analysed. The study highlights the elements of Dostoyevsky’s concept that demonstrate the progressive nature of the empire and his arguments for the impossibility of Russian conservatism.
