The Medals of Yesterday: A Qualitative Investigation on the Life Stories of Senior High School Honor Students Culled- out in the Education Program

This study explored the lived experiences of senior high school honor students who were culled out of the education program in a local college. Employing a qualitative phenomenological approach, it examined their academic transitions, challenges, and coping strategies. We collected data through in-depth interviews and focus group discussions. Findings reveal that despite their past achievements, these students struggled with identity loss, academic pressure, and emotional distress, after being removed from the program. However, they demonstrated resilience through self-acceptance, reliance on support systems, and personal growth. The study underscores the need for stronger institutional support, mental health resources, and tailored academic guidance to help students adapt to educational challenges. These insights contribute to the broader discourse on student retention, educational policies, and holistic learning experiences.
