Synthesis of highly efficient green luminescent terbium complex using carbon nitride as a matrix material

Abstract This study aims to develop a new green light-emitting material using benzoguanamine (BG) and terbium (Tb) chloride hexahydrate. By controlling three parameters: the annealing time and temperature, mixing ratio of Tb, and annealing, we found that the samples using BG monomer reveal larger PL quantum yield than the BG dimer samples. Consequently, we could determine the optimum preparation condition of the three parameters; the annealing temperature and time are 280 °C and 1 h, the ratio of BG monomer to Tb is 10:1. The sample prepared under this condition reveals the maximum PLQY of 67.1%. In addition, the separation and removal of impurities by filtration were attempted. As a result, there was no significant change in the PLQY value, but the phosphorescence lifetime value was improved by about 10% and color purity was improved. These results demonstrate that the new green light-emitting material reveals high quantum yield, low cost, and high solubility.
