Optimizing Continuous Wave Radar for Micro-UAV Detection using Doppler and Micro-Doppler Analysis
This paper discusses the design and analysis of a Continuous Wave (CW) radar system for detecting micro-unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs). It begins with designing the radar system using a single-blade model drone and evaluating its performance and capabilities. The system incorporates the CW technique and considers the Doppler and micro-Doppler effects. Digital signal processing techniques such as Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) and Short-Time Fourier Transform (STFT) are applied for data processing and analysis. The CW radar is set to work under 200 kHz of sampling frequency and 50 GHz of carrier frequency. The size of the target is set as 0.05 m for both of the radar and the speed is set as 100 m/s. The effectiveness of the radar system is tested with different types of parameters and the limits of the radar have been found out. The paper provides a comprehensive overview of the step-by-step design process, the utilization of signal processing methods, and the evaluation of the radar system.
