Enactment of Social Structures through User Interaction with a User-Centric Centralized Dashboard for Collaborative Project Governance
This research would like to understand how users have enacted social structures using the extension of the structurational perspective on technology as a theoretical lens in the case of an organization that uses an internally developed centralized dashboard for reporting project status. A number of users were interviewed, including the product owner, and their responses were transcribed manually and coded for analysis. The study showed how human-computer interaction led to enacted social structures namely project monitoring efficiency, project documentation efficiency, and collaborative project governance. The norms and practices produced and reproduced along the process are also a product of the organization's agile mindset, creating value by developing human-centric applications. Theoretically, this research showed theory in practice as it explained how the use of software enacted social structures. Practically, this research showed how to incorporate user-centric design in the software delivery and enaction of social structures.
