Production of maize hybrids and varieties during the fall winter season in the humid tropic of México
With the objective of knowing the agronomic behavior of 20 corn genotypes in autumn-winter season, during the 2022/23 season, 9 varietal crosses, 6 experimental synthetics, the varieties VS-536 and V-537C and the hybrids H-567, H-518 and H 520 used as check, there were evaluated in three environments in Veracruz and Tabasco. They were distributed under a randomized complete block design with 20 treatments and three replications in plots of four rows 5 m long, and density of 62,500 plants ha-1. From the combined analysis for grain yield, significance was found at 0.01 probability for Genotypes [G], for Environments [E] and for the GxE interaction. The best varietal crosses were: SINT2BxSINT4B, SINT4BxSINT2B, SINT-4BxVS-536 and V-537CxVS-536, with grain yield from 7.26 to 6.75 t ha-1, like H-520 [7.19 t ha-1]. The varietal hybrids SINT4BxVS-536 and V-537CxVS 536 represent an alternative in corn production during the autumn-winter season in Veracruz and Tabasco states.
