SOCIAL JUSTICE, COUNSELOR EDUCATION AND MORE: HOT TOPICS OF SCHOOL COUNSELING
School counseling is a vital sub-specialty within the broader field of counseling, focusing on well-being in educational environments. The expansion and enhancement of the school counseling research field contribute to the development of evidence-based interventions, enrich theoretical orientations, and uncover current issues within the field. Thus, this study aims to examine the school counseling research to provide a holistic overview and guide future research endeavors. To this end, bibliometric analyses were conducted on 823 articles obligated from the Web of Science’s SSCI and ESCI databases. These analyses were performed using the Bibliometrix built in R. The results highlight the most influential authors, countries, sources, and articles in this field. A thematic analysis organized keywords into five distinct clusters: Adolescent Cluster, School Counselor Cluster, Social Justice Cluster, Counselor Education Cluster, and Psychotherapy Cluster. The findings of this study suggest a need for further research to advance the field of school counseling.
