The sample was made up of 352 women victims of violence from urban and rural areas of Piura, to whom the positive psychological functioning scale. In descriptive terms, positive psychological functioning in women from rural areas reached a medium level (66.09%) while, in women from urban areas, positive psychological functioning ranged at high levels (73.41%). Regarding inferential results, a p value less than .001, an effect size greater than .30 and a statistical power greater than .80 were obtained at a general level and by dimensions, conclusively demonstrating the existence of statistically significant differences in the level of positive psychological functioning between both groups. These results contribute to a deeper understanding of a problem that is often underestimated in a population that few dare to study.
