6G Mobile Networks and Dew Computing — Research Trends and Challenges
5G mobile networks are already encountering issues like network congestion, high latency, and limited scalability. This is due to the fact that the majority of information processing occurs at the lowest computing level, closely linked to the physical environment and primarily responsible for directly managing our immediate surroundings. In this context, numerous research initiatives and industry groups have begun focusing on the development of 6G mobile networks. Dew computing, on the other hand, is a distributed computing paradigm that that builds upon the principles of cloud computing. It enables users to access the complete functionality of a system without relying on constant internet connectivity. This model focuses on utilizing local user devices as computing units, while the internet is primarily used for synchronizing data. In dew computing, continuous internet connectivity is not required for users to use the functionality of the system. It also enhances cloud services using local device resources. The main focus of this research paper is to explore dew computing capabilities in 6G mobile networks, and to propose a 6G network architecture in a dew computing environment, which is expected to overcome the challenges and issues in existing 5G network infrastructures.
