A Triple Approach to Initiating Digital Transformation: Insights Through Metamodeling
Changes in the market, the emergence of new trends, and the resulting need to modify operations drive organizations to undertake activities aimed at digital transformation (DT). Digital transformation enables organizations to change their business models, processes, products, and services by leveraging all available organizational resources to reshape their core operations and fully align with meeting clients' ultimate needs. To achieve this, current business practices offer a variety of methods to assess the current state and to create potential activities focused on future improvements and the overall advancement of organizations. Such methods, in addition to being aligned with the organization's objectives, must also be appropriate for the domain of operations where the change needs to be implemented. The aim of this paper is to use metamodeling to determine the complementarity and potential integration of the SWOT analysis, McKinsey 7S model, and the determinants of digital transformation to enhance the final performance of organizations and to identify the initial potential for digital transformation within them. Since metamodels represent, simplify, and define the syntax and semantics of the observed domain, the question arises as to how these methods can be interconnected and which elements of the three methods can be utilized in their integration.
