A Smart Framework for Cost-Effective Characterization of Touch-Sensing Controller
Conventional methods for Touch Sensing Controller (TSC) characterization are prone to inaccuracies with modern touch panels and become expensive due to prolonged test time. To address these challenges, a cost-effective CPU-based solution is proposed for real-time system-level performance analysis. The approach mitigates serial communication bottlenecks and reduces dependence on large on-chip memory. The solution was validated on a TSC with 100 16-bit Capacitance-to-Digital Converters (CDC), 8 K samples per CDC and 96 KB of on-chip memory, achieving 94% improvement in memory utilization and 84% reduction in test cycle time. By closely aligning characterization setups with real-world application conditions and optimizing the data acquisition, the proposed method enhances timing accuracy and, ensures robust analysis.
