AI in Education and for Education: Perspectives from Educational Technology and Psychology

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is fast changing the face of education, presenting new tools and methods that make the teaching/learning experience more dynamic. This paper is a literature-based study that examines both AI in education and AI to administer education through two facets: educational technology and psychology. In particular, it looks into the ways of AI-driven platforms, adaptive learning solutions, and smart tutoring systems enhancing cognitive engagement, motivation, and personalized learning experiences. This study is a synthesis of existing literature on the use of AI in classrooms, online learning, and hybrid learning and an account of their educational and psychological consequences.By combining a review of empirical studies with the theory base and practical analyses of the effectiveness of AI tools, the paper contributes a balanced view by linking educational technology with psychological perspectives, which are often discussed separately. The results show that AI enables individualized learning plans, real-time feedback, and allows more control to the learner, although it also has issues related to ethical concerns, accessibility, and the preparedness of teachers. The research highlights the need for schools to formally recognize AI use and align its deployment with school goals and cognitive development objectives to amplify learning results. The implications on educators, instructional designers, and policymakers are explained, and some steps or actions they can take to improve or integrate the usage of AI technologies in a pedagogically sound and more psychologically supportive way are provided. The study is an addition to a more balanced picture of how AI can transform the education sector by giving more weight to the technological aspect and focusing more on human psychology in learning.
