Balancing work and family life: views of principals in secondary schools

The paper deals with the way female directors of Secondary Education of the Prefecture of Florina perceive their professional and family balance. The way they perceive both their roles and obligations, the existence of obstacles and the way of managing them and the existence of those support factors, which promote their professional development. For all of the above reasons, the various changes which have taken place in the family, professional and social sectors are studied, which allowed the change of gender roles in the mentioned areas and resulted in the creations of the conceptual framework of balancing family and professional life. As a matter of fact, these changes seemed to have a special effect on Education and, more specifically, on its administrative department, as more and more women are claiming managerial positions. This raises the question of how easy or difficult it is for women to achieve the balance of family and professional life.
