Study of gastroprotective properties of a combination of inulin and aluminum hydroxide in erosive and ulcerative lesions of the stomach in dogs

The aim of the study was to investigate the gastroprotective effect of the aluminum hydroxide and inulin complex in dogs with erosive and ulcerative gastritis. The object of the study was 17 dogs of different sexes and breeds aged 1 to 6 years, which were divided into two experimental groups of 9 and 8 animals, respectively. The studies were carried out at the Pirogov Veterinary Center in Stavropol in 2024. All animals underwent fibrogastroduodenoscopy, with biopsy samples obtained using biopsy forceps through the working channel of the endoscope in 5 different places. 24 hours after FGDS, the animals of group 1 were orally given a drug consisting of a mixture of aluminum hydroxide powder and inulin in a mass ratio of 1: 1, at a dose of 20 mg / kg, dissolved in 10 ml of tap water 2 times a day at intervals of 10–12 hours for 6 days. The second group of animals (2 dogs) served as a control, they were administered 8 ml of water without the drug according to the same scheme. On the third day after the start of drug administration, 10 animals from the first group and 3 animals from the second group underwent fibrogastroduodenoscopy, with biopsy samples obtained, then on the 4th day, fibrogastroscopy with biopsy samples was repeated in the remaining 1 dogs from the first group and 4 dogs from the control group. During endoscopy on the 2th day after the start of therapy, erosions are poorly distinguishable in animals from the experimental group, there is no edema and hyperemia of the mucosa, compared with animals from the control group, in which erosive lesions are clearly differentiated. In dogs of the experimental group, on the 6th day from the moment of drug administration, a more rapid restoration of the cytoarchitecture of the gastric mucosa, a smaller number of intraepithelial lymphocytes and lymphocytes of the proper plate are recorded. Thus, the use of a combination of aluminum hydroxide and inulin in dogs in the treatment of erosive and ulcerative gastritis has a pronounced therapeutic effect and serves as the basis for studying the use of this combination in the treatment of erosive and ulcerative lesions of the stomach in dogs and cats.
