Heritage of Knowledge Transfer for Sustainable Well-Being

The present study explores the heritage of intergenerational knowledge transfer and its role in sustaining wellbeing among the tribal communities of Kolli Hills, Tamil Nadu.Focusing on four villages Valavanthinadu, Kundur Nadu, Selur Nadu, and Devanur Nadu the research involved 40 respondents (10 participants from each village), selected to represent multiple generations within families. The study documents the processes through which traditional knowledge related to agriculture, health practices, environmental conservation, and cultural traditions is transmitted from elders to younger generations.Findings reveal that oral communication, community rituals, and experiential learning are the major channels of knowledge transfer. While modernization and migration pose challenges to continuity, the resilience of these practices underscores their importance for sustainable well-being.The paper argues that reinforcing traditional learning systems through education, community participation, and digital platforms can preserve cultural heritage and strengthen tribal resilience in the face of contemporary challenges.
