Roles of Education on the Performance of Agribusiness Firms: Evidence from MbaliziMbeya, Tanzania

Background: The study focused on the role of education in the performance of agribusiness firms in the Mbalizi-Mbeya region of Tanzania. Methodology: Quantitative data was collected by survey using questionnaires across the study area. The collected data wereanalysed through descriptive socio-demographic characteristics and inferential statistics to establish the relationship between skills, knowledge, and experience and the performance of agribusiness firms. The study used a cross-sectional research design. It included 37agribusiness owner-managers selected using stratified random sampling. The study used primary data. Results: The result from regression analysis between skills, knowledge, and experiences towards performance measured in market, financial, and productivity indicates that the statistical significance value is less than 0.05 which shows that there is a positive significant relationship between skills, knowledge and experiences to performances of agribusiness firms in enhancing productivity, financial and market performance. Recommendations: To enhance the performance of agribusiness firms, they need to focus on investing in education, training, and innovation, encourage skill development, promote knowledge sharing, and support continuous learning initiatives within the industry. Also, the government should focus on expanding vocational training in agriculture. These initiatives can help improve education, skills, and knowledge within the industry, ultimately leading to greater efficiency, financial resources, and market opportunities for agribusiness firms.
