Attenuation of environmental vibrations using geosynthetics
Beyond the usual applications of drainage geocomposites, their environmental impact was considered through benefits in terms of attenuation of vibration and structure-borne noise levels due to vibration-damping geocomposite placed on or near a standard 4-floors building with an underground car park located 20 m from a railway line. The problem of train induced noise levels inside buildings is not new, but the means employed for its study have evolved with time mainly because of the increase of computing resources. Various numerical simulations and results obtained on the different floors of the standard building studied are detailed in this paper.
