W drodze do teatru. Krajobraz wokół miejsca teatralnego a doświadczenie spektaklu
The subject of the article is the experience prior to attending a performance in an enclosed space. Is the journey to the theatre part of the performance? In some cases – when the theatre operates in an unconventional venue – the very act of reaching it already entails a form of participation in a spectacle. This is the case, for example, in theatres located in rural areas, such as Gardzienice and Węgajty. Theatre participation beyond the performance itself can also take place in urban space, including post-industrial areas, where Warsaw’s Nowy Teatr originally presented its performances. Transfer for the audience to the performance venue, as practised by TRWarszawa that perform on sound stages on the city outskirts, may also be part of the organisation of a theatrical performance. The landscape plays a role in the route as well as at the moment of reaching the theatrical place.
