„Nie wiem, czy jestem z tego, czy z tamtego świata”. O postaci Zosi w „Dziadach cz. II” Adama Mickiewicza w perspektywie feministycznej

This article examines the deconstruction of the figure of Zosia in Forefathers’ Eve Part II by Adam Mickiewicz in the context of feminist critical thought. The shepherdess transcends the binary oppositions of passivity/activity, emotion/reason, and nature/culture. As a result, she transgresses the boundaries of fixed literary conventions, becoming an active subject in the drama. Viewed from the feminist perspective, the female character becomes not only a multidimensional character, free from dualism, but also a noteworthy synthesis of romantic ideas. Moreover, the traditional vision of Arcadia fades – in the drama, it becomes a place of blissful existence for women, not men. This article also describes the changes in the genre of the Polish idyll – from the traditional understanding of Arcadia in Western culture to the destabilization of the myth at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries.
