Unusual recurrence of colon cancer with isolated axillary lymph node metastasis: A case report
• Isolated axillary lymph node metastasis from colon cancer is extremely rare. • Lymphatic spread via the thoracic duct may explain this atypical dissemination. • Surgical resection of isolated ALNM may offer temporary disease control. • ALNM occurred 15 months after curative sigmoid colon cancer resection. • PET/CT was critical in detecting clinically silent axillary metastases.
