Maths to interpret everyday physical phenomena: «A climatological analysis of temperature and precipitation in the station of Lamia for the period 1970-2021: average and extreme climate», a study of the 4 th General High School of Lamia.

In an ever-changing climate, valid and timely information is a prerequisite for the security of society. In the context of this work, high school students were informed about the climate, its changes and the challenges that our society faces due to the uncertainty of climate change. A climatic analysis was carried out for the period 1970-2010 for the Meteorological station of Lamia, with the aim of understanding the climatic conditions prevailing in this area. The results showed a negative trend in the mean annual minimum temperatures and a positive trend in the mean annual maximum temperatures. Respectively, the precipitation per year, the days of precipitation per year as well as the intensity of the precipitation show a decreasing trend. Furthermore, a case study made by a group of students of the 4 th General High School of Lamia is presented. Within this case study, the students of the 1 st grade attempted to interpret the data collected by the Meteorological station that has been installed in the school.
