A research study οf an online community for Informatics teachers in primary education schools

A research study using an anonymous electronic questionnaire was conducted in order to improve the empirical understanding of an online community for Informatics teachers in primary education schools developed by the Education Coordinator. The purpose of the research is to investigate attitudes and views of the members as well as factors that encourage or hinder their active participation. Despite their positive views for the potential of the online community, the majority of members are not actively involved. However, the vast majority of participants consider their future active participation possible and the number of members who are already actively involved is pretty high, definitely not negligible. The encouragement of the electronic community creator as well as posts made by her and some others, seem to encourage the active participation of the members. Time constraints have been proven to be the main obstacle to the active participation of the members.
