Strategic intervention program for Greek-Pontiac learning disabled students in comprehension and production of written language.
The main purpose of this work was to implement a special intervention program with learning strategies to Greek Pontian pupils at risk for learning disabilities. The intervention program was applied to a sample of five children, selected from a population of 31 pupils attending grades 3 and 4 in schools in the city of Alexandroupolis, Evros in 2017. The pupils were assessed using the Learning Disabilities Diagnostic Inventory, the Λ-α-Τ-ω (Lato) Language Acquisition Competence Test, Level II, and two achievement tests as data collection tools to detect those at risk for learning disabilities. Besides, following the implementation of the program, performance of children was reevaluated using again achievement tests. The conclusions from the program"s implementation indicate that children using the strategies were able to understand the main idea and details of a text and to produce organized stories based on robust structure.
