Teacher training in distance education: teachers' views and experiences

The purpose of this study is to investigate the views and experiences of teachers who attended a training program in distance education. To this end, IT teachers in a focus group answered semi-structured interview questions. The results of the survey showed that teachers recognized the need for this seminar, pointing out, however, took place late. They argued that the program was well organized recognizing the value of the practical implementations by creating lesson plans. They recognized that some methods can be applied in their practice beyond the framework of distance learning. They pointed out the important supporting role of their trainer in all phases of the seminar and they assessed positively their experience in the seminar. Finally, they suggested that such seminars should be held exclusively asynchronously, while they recommenced the creation of a repository with lesson plans in distance education where teachers could have access to exchange ideas and good practices.
