Abstract

The multidimensional changes worldwide in recent decades make teachers’ lifelong learning and development necessary through various forms of education, which, by critically examining their perceptions and assumptions, methodize their professional development. As the contribution of art in general, and of literature in particular, emerges important in this direction, the present work focused on Nikos Kazantzakis’ work and attempted to explore through teachers’ views in the Region of Crete its impact on their thinking and practice, utilizing a qualitative methological approach with semi-stuctured interviews and questionnaires, intentional sampling and thematic analysis for conclusions. The research findings reveal the timelessness of Kazantzakis’ texts, their influence on educational thought and practice, their potential contribution to the promotion of modern pedagogical theory and practice and the prospect of their utilization in teachers’ lifelong learning, in order to strengthen their professional identity and development.
