Research over the relationship between children’s sex and academic performance conducted at the schools of Primary Education of Karditsa

The current article presents an experimental research regarding the academic performance of children of both sexes, which was conducted at the schools of Primary Education of Karditsa. The differences between the two sexes, as far as their performance is concerned, have preoccupied a number of researchers, who support that boys have better performance at subjects such as mathematics and science in contrast with girls who achieve better grades at theoretical subjects (e.g Greek, History). Important factors such as the socio-economic frame, the students’ family profile, cultural characteristics, as well as the school environment itself, play a significant role to the differences in performance between boys and girls.
