Exploration of the applicability of education material on school safety and hygiene

Although the role of schools in preventing accidents and illnesses is crucial, school infrastructures often present deficiencies in safety and hygiene. The aim of this study was to assess the applicability of educational material on school safety and hygiene during the period 2016–2019. This is a descriptive survey study conducted with a nationwide sample consisting of Heads of Environmental Education, Health Education, Cultural Affairs, and School Activities from the Directorates of Education in 2019. Data were collected through an anonymous online questionnaire and organized and analyzed using Google Forms (with a 33% response rate). A total of 76.3% of respondents were informed about the educational material, but only 26.3% were informed about its implementation. About 41% reported no difficulty in understanding the material, and high levels of satisfaction (69%) and awareness (51.7%) were observed. In conclusion, the majority of participants were aware of the educational material, but most were not informed about its application. It is recommended that in the future, they should be directly involved in order to inform and guide interested teachers accordingly.
