Laparoscopic Gastrostomy with Immediate Button Placement in Pediatric Intestinal Failure: Technique Description
Background: Gastrostomy placement is one of the most performed procedures by pediatric surgeons, and its insertion technique has evolved over time since it was first described. The devices used have also improved, with low-profile, button-type gastrostomy catheters now being the most desirable for patients due to both their cosmetic advantages and comfort they provide. Unfortunately, placement of button device typically requires stoma maturation, which usually takes approximately three months.
