New perspectives on venous anastomosis in living donor intestinal transplantation: a swine experimental model
Background: Living donor Intestinal transplantation is a viable treatment option for intestinal failure. Graft venous drainage into portal circulation is considered more physiological, although the literature suggests similar outcomes between portal and systemic drainage. However, maintaining portal flow has been associated with a lower incidence of bacterial infections, tough the underlying mechanisms remain inadequately explored.
