Are Multivisceral/small bowel transplant patients living independent lives post-transplant?

Background: Post small bowel transplant (MVT/SBT), we hope that patients will be able to live more independent and ‘normal’ lives, or at least show some degree of improvement from baseline. We hope recipients will eventually be able to cease the need for parenteral support and resume a normal diet. We also hope that they will be able to fully participate in all aspects of life (including work and recreation) and enjoy a healthy lifestyle. There is limited information available on ADL’s for this group of patients, so we wanted to assess how many of our patients at a national centre, have achieved the goal of independent living with minimal support.
